On January 5, 2026, Jiangxi Shangwei Technology Co., Ltd. announced that its newly developed YTX30L-BS 12V 30Ah motorcycle starting batteries have been shipped. The first batch will be delivered to key African markets such as South Africa and Nigeria, supplying local auto aftermarket businesses and vehicle manufacturers.

Technical highlights adapted to extreme African environments

  • Fully-sealed AGM structure: maintenance-free, perfectly suited for areas in Africa lacking professional maintenance services.
  • Thickened plates & high-density glass fiber separators: achieves over 200 cycles above 55℃, zero leakage and zero corrosion.
  • Excellent shock resistance: withstands continuous 25G vibration, adapting to rough desert, gobi and gravel roads.
  • 500 CCA cold cranking current: enables instant startup in grasslands and mountainous areas with large temperature differences.
  • Only 3% monthly self-discharge rate, much lower than 15% of traditional lead-acid batteries, solving startup issues for long-term parked motorcycles.

Dual protection via certifications and professional tests

Passed international transportation safety tests, ensuring full protection and stable performance during container shipment.

Market Demand & Prospects

Motorcycle ownership in Africa rose by 4.7% in 2024, and a large number of used vehicles are in urgent need of durable replacement batteries. By cooperating with local distributors, Shangwei Technology plans to build a complete after-sales network in South Africa, Nigeria and other countries to deliver localized services and rapid responses.

Corporate Strategic Layout

The bulk export of YTX30L-BS batteries marks a key step for Shangwei Technology to expand into segmented markets beyond industrial energy solutions. Through localized technical testing, in-depth channel development and complete after-sales system construction, the company is steadily improving its product lineup in Africa, striving to become a reliable partner in the local motorcycle power supply sector.

"The African market has strong demand for high-reliability, low-maintenance lead-acid batteries, and our technological upgrades are tailored to such needs," said the company’s foreign trade director. "This export signals the official launch of our African market layout. We will further increase R&D investment and offer targeted power solutions suited to diverse local climates and operating conditions across different countries."
